No Pasarán “Overseas Santorini”

Overseas Santorini 2024

As we have been informed by international press reports, the US ship “Overseas Santorini” is currently sailing near Gibraltar and it is bound for Israel, loaded with 300,000 barrels of military-grade JP-8 fuel for F-16 fighter jets, delivered under a contract with the US government. That is enough fuel to fill a jet up to 12,000 times.

The ship is expected to pass from Cyprus, specifically Limassol. Any country, including Cyprus, will be considered complicit in the genocide if it lets this ship use its ports. Spain has already banned the ship from docking, as a result of organised protests by trade unions and political organisations.

We call on the major trade unions, and especially the Pancyprian Federation of Labour with their declared stance against the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government, to rise to the occasion and not allow the ship to dock here. The longshoremen are supposed to be a highly organised sector, and it is time for the organised labour movement to prove that worker solidarity can be the end to barbarity and war.

Solidarity Forever!
